unique abstract amorphous sculpture by french artist Gabriel Gouttard, 1960s high end organic
midcentury modern amorphous structure statue sculpture art by famous french sculptor Gabriel Gouttard

XXL Amorphous Sculpture by Gabriel Gouttard, France 1960s

XXL Amorphous sculpture by Gabriel Gouttard (Lyon 1927–2015), France 1960s. Impressive fluid, amorphous-shaped sculpture, showing a characteristic tension between softness and solidity: rounded, flowing shapes emerging as if shaped by geological forces, without any recognizable form — true to the Greek a-morphē, “without shape.” Constructed with a robust internal fiberglass structure and finished with a distinctive textured mineral concrete surface, the sculpture possesses great visual weight and physical presence. The soft grey, stone-like skin reveals subtle tonal variations that enhance its sculptural depth. Due to the exceptional large scale, the sculpture has a great impact on its surroundings and will truly stand out in a garden, patio, or roof garden. Gouttard developed his biomorphic language independently, yet he had a great admiration for the organic vocabulary of Henry Moore. Gouttard’s works can be found in public spaces in and around Lyon.
Signed in the lower left corner. The sculpture is mounted on the white base, any adjustments could be made to the base. The existing base is suitable for outdoor use and, in addition to its aesthetic contribution, makes the sculpture easy to transport thanks to an invisible internal supporting structure to which wheels can be easily screwed for mobility. The sculpture is in excellent condition.
