XL Ceramic Bowl By Elio Schiavon with a Linear Composition, Italy 1960s

XL ceramic bowl by Elio Schiavon (1925–2004), Italy, 1960s. The bowl stands out for its exceptional scale and a dynamic composition of refined, line drawings with a modest use of colour and green structured accents. Hand-sculpted in a free-form shape, the surface is worked directly in the wet clay, where incised lines create a subtle relief and an expressive, textured surface. The composition is defined by aerodynamic lines that move across the surface, shifting between abstraction and figuration. Elements reminiscent of a sunflower dissolve into forms that evoke swallows in motion, continuing into a network of intersecting, linear gestures that suggest movement, rhythm, and direction. Finished in a soft white glaze, the carved lines are filled with a deep brown-red, almost aubergine-toned pigment. In his own kiln, Schiavon produced both commercial work and unique, one-off creations of archaic inspiration. This bowl belongs to the latter: a fully handmade monotype, conceived as a sculptural object rather than a functional piece. We have two unique bowls available. Offered individually, each stands strong on its own, yet together they create a compelling dialogue. The bowl remains in excellent, authentic condition.
