Sculptural Carved Wooden ‘Root’ chairs

Unique set of sculptural wooden tree trunk chairs, 1970's. The chairs are hand carved out of a solid piece of tropical hardwood. This style of furniture making is a traditional Chinese art and goes back to the 12th century. Very unusual and highly decorative chairs yet functional, they can be used as a side chair and offer a noble comfort. The chairs have a nice deep matt finish. In good original condition.
