Postmodern white marble sculpture by Jean-Claude Reussner, France 1980s

Post modern white Thasos marble sculpture by Jean-Claude Reussner (1928-2016), France 1988. The work of Jean-Claude Reussner is the story of a synthesis between the two facets of the same artist: the painter and the sculptor who took over his father's foundry in 1961 and worked for twenty years for numerous artists around the world. At the beginning of the 1980s that Reussner decided to devote himself completely to sculptures. For this sculpture he choose the most radiant white marble; Thassos marble. This crystalline stone is almost diaphanous and translucent at the edges, but also the best able to trap shadow. The sculpture based on a fundamental, founding form: the cube. It is from this geometry, which he considers perfect, that Reussner invents spurts, oblique stacks, penetrations. His sculptures are ordered according to pure, cosmic geometry and the harmony of the golden ratio. The sculpture is in an excellent original condition.
