Pair of Antique Chinese Horse shoe chairs, early 20th century

Pair of Antique Chinese chairs, early 20th century. These Chinese horse shoe chairs are made from Northern Elm (yumu) from Northern China with a beautiful patina. These chairs received their name due to their name because of the continuous curved back resembling a horse shoe. They were used ceremonially and were reserved for persons of high rank and social importance. Very sculptural looks and surprisingly comfortable chairs. In good condition.
