Nerone & Patuzzi (Gruppo NP2) Wooden Wall Relief, Italy ca. 1970

Wooden wall relief by Nerone & Patuzzi, Italy, circa 1970. Refined composition combining organic and geometric forms with a variety of materials, including stained wood, lead, red copper, and cast aluminium. The overall composition is subtly balanced, resulting in a calm and composed presence. With continued observation, subtler details and layered reliefs gradually reveal, lending the work a varied yet coherent character. It’s organic shapes and textured surfaces in combination with the diversity of materials: copper at the center, surrounded by lead elements and accents of cast aluminium, together forming a richly varied composition. The wood displays a deep, warm color, achieved through a distinctive technique developed by Nerone. During the working process, the surface was polished and darkened through friction, then treated with multiple layers of colored wax. This method results in a characteristic, richly nuanced finish with subtle tonal variations and depth. The work remains in excellent condition.
