Nerone & Patuzzi dining table ‘Scultura Blocchi’ for Gruppo NP2, Italy 1960s

Rare dining table 'Scultura Blocchi' by Nerone & Patuzzi for Gruppo NP2, Italy ca. 1969. Outstanding sculptural solid wooden base out of two unique matching pieces with strong geometrical yet organic almost zoomorphic forms creating a very strong outspoken and attractive piece. The wood shows an impeccable patina and dept, Nerone used a special technique; he gave extra character and color to the wood partly with the use of a flame and secondly to finish it with multiple layers of colored wax to create a deep finish rich of color shades. The finish of the table is very well preserved and gained extra character over the years which makes the table really stand out. The table is equipped with the original tinted round glass top. Gruppo NP2 was founded in 1962 by Nerone Ceccarelli & Giancarlo Patuzzi. Nerone was the creator of the artworks, he studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Venice and Florence and moved to Turin in 1957. Research after geometric shapes was the main theme in his works, rigorous geometric abstractionism can be found back in all his works, always trying to integrate art and architecture. Provided with a certificate of authenticity by the Nerone Ceccarelli archive. In excellent original condition.
