Corinthian Column by Marzio Cecchi for Studio Most, Italy 1980

Corinthian Column by Marzio Cecchi for Studio Most, Italy 1980. A classical Roman Corinthian column, a symbol of the ancient world, reimagined by eclectic Florentine designer Marzio Cecchi. Produced in a small edition and originating from the private residence of Cecchi’s sister in Florence. Cecchi played here with the historical values deeply rooted in Italian culture, the archetype of an ancient architectural fragment is rendered in polyester, introducing a deliberate contradiction. This tension defines its surreal character. Detached from architecture, the column becomes autonomous. No longer structural, but symbolic. It does not support space, it transforms it. Impressive in scale yet remarkably light for its size, allowing flexibility in placement. The column stands stable and is preserved in excellent condition.
