Luigi Caccia Dominioni Sasso Floor Lamp 1948

Rare “Sasso” floor lamp by Luigi Caccia Dominioni for Azucena, Italy, circa 1948. An exceptional and early example, distinguished by its sculptural brown onyx base. The base is formed from a natural piece of onyx stone — hence its name Sasso (stone) — carefully selected by Dominioni from a supplier in local stones. The stone is minimally worked, preserving its natural character — a defining aspect of early production, where material and form were approached with a refined sensibility. A chrome-plated stem emerges from the base, complemented by refined patinated brass detailing, supporting two anodised coppered aluminium shades. The lamp retains a strong coherence across materials and patina, reinforcing its authenticity and early character. A refined and sculptural lighting object in excellent, authentic condition.
