Large metal wall sculpture by Nerone & Patuzzi for Gruppo NP2, Italy 1969

Unique wall sculpture by Nerone and Patuzzi (Gruppo NP2), Italy 1969. The sculpture is made of metal profiles, steel rods and sheets of copper and metal all hand shaped and finished in different ways to obtain this harmonious and outspoken composition. As many of Ceccarelli's works this work shows strong Constructivist influences. The metal surfaces are threatened in different techniques, the majority is black lacquered, parts are kept unfinished in order to let the time and climate have it's influence on the metal and parts are finished with gold- and silver leaf to create outspoken accents and an outspoken contrast with the dark steel. The panel can both be hanged- or leaned against the wall for a more informal feeling. Gruppo NP2 was founded in 1962 by Nerone Ceccarelli & Giancarlo Patuzzi. Nerone was the creator of the artworks, he studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Venice and Florence and moved to Turin in 1957. Research after geometric shapes was the main theme in his works, rigorous geometric abstractionism can be found back in all his works, always trying to integrate art and architecture. One of a kind, signed at the lower part and provided with a certificate of authenticity. In excellent original condition.
