Hugo Demarco Kinetic artwork “Reflexion”, France 1975

Kinetic artwork "Refelection" by Hugo Demarco (1932–1995), France 1975. The work is made out of blue acrylic glass, a black acrylic frame at the back and a motorized polished stainless steel curved disk in the center causing an intriguing kinetic play. DeMarco finished his degree at the Escuela Nacional de Bellas Artes in Buenos Aires in 1957. Not long after, in 1959, he moved to Paris with Julio Le Parc and Horacio García Rossi, his former classmates, to join the French art scene. He was among the early members of the Groupe de Recherche d'Art Visuel (GRAV), a group of visual artists including Julio Le Parc, Jesús-Rafael Soto, Horacio Garcia Rossi, Sérgio de Camargo, and François Morellet and Carlos Cruz-Diez. Demarco focused essentially on color and movement, optical art paintings on canvas and motorized art objects through which the viewer's perceptions are deceived. Numerous personal exhibitions were given to him throughout the world, between 1961 and 1989. His works are in the collection of important museums worldwide. This particular work is created in 1975 and was ment to be made in a number of 75, this is number 22 anyhow it's unknown how many where actually made. The solid polished aluminium base is an addition to beautifully present the work, it can also stand without or be hung on a wall. Signed, numbered and dated at the back. In excellent original condition.
