Fabrizio Cocchia & Gianfranco Fini Ascissa table lamps for New Lamp, Italy ca. 1970

Rare set of table lamps mod. 'Ascissa' by Gianfranco Fini & Fabrizio Coccia for New Lamp, Italy ca. 1970. New Lamp was one of the most experimental lighting design studios from Italy and created the most amazing designs between 1969 - 1973. With their radical sculptural designs, they gained a lot of prestige in just four years and their designs have now become highly sought-after collectors' items which consists in the collection of museums and important private collections. The design of these lamps consisting three high gloss polished aluminium square tubes terminating in perspex light diffusers at both ends and show beautiful refined details, each tube hides one E-14 light socket. The inspiration for the design came from the Max Bill sculpture 'Unity from three equal volumes'. It's already hard to find one lamp, we have the unique luck to have a set which gives you the option to play even more with the design of the lamp and use them as it was also designed; separately or stacked together to build an even bigger light sculpture. Literature: Lamps 1968-1973: New Italian design, Fulvio Ferrari e Napoleone Ferrari, Allemandi editore. In excellent original condition.

Dimensions W 41 x D 41 x H 29 cm / each tube measures 32 cm
