De Pas, D’Urbino & Lomazzi ‘Cuingam’ Lounge chairs – Set of two

Stunning pair of leather lounge chairs by Jonathan de Pas, Donato D’urbino & Paolo Lomazzi for BBB Bonacina, Italy 1967. The trio was pare of the ‘Radical Design’ movement which dominated Avant Garde Italian design and architecture in the late 1960’s and early 70’s. The chairs where also designed in that period which is clearly visible by the bulky shapes and the bold seat that almost reminds you of race car bucket seats. The chairs covered in a beautiful and extremely soft deep olive green coloured leather. The bold back rest provides a good support, which results in a very comfortable and relaxed seating position. These chairs were in production for a very brief period. Documentation: Gramigna. 'Repertorio del Design Italiano 1950 - 2000' P 135 (Sofa), Domus July 1970. Manufactures label is moulded into the bottom shell of the chairs. In very good condition.
