‘Cesto’ chair by Grassi, Conti and Forlani for Emilio Paoli, Italy ca. 1959

'Cesto' chair by Luciano Grassi, Sergio Conti and Marisa Forlani for Emilio Paoli, Italy circa. 1959. The chair is from the 'Monofilo' series. The design is the result of experimenting with new materials and the simplification and reduction of labour. The nylon threads are woven around the iron frame resulting in a very interesting and sculptural design. The nylon is woven around the frame in a simple and dense weave to create a sculptural, functional, light and transparent seat. The use of strong geometrical lines makes it a very interesting chair. The chair is strong, solid and also very comfortable. In very good original condition with a nice subtle patina.
