Abstract ‘Spatial’ wall tapestry by Annet Gaaikema, 1972

Large wall Tapestry by Annet Gaaikema (1944), The Netherlands 1972. The tapestry shows beautiful spatial openwork and crochet work, all skillfully and disciplinary done by hand, even all the threads are woven by hand. The work is titled "Sheltered landscape“ (Hidden landscape). The work is composed out of a mix of natural fibers such as Jute and Sisal in contrasting natural colored shades and is showing an interesting play of textures, deep reliefs, strong vertical lines, softer horizontal lines and open fields. Signed and dated with the original tag at the backside. The work is in excellent original condition.
