Nerone & Patuzzi (Gruppo NP2) – Wooden Wall Relief, Italy ca. 1970
Large wooden wall relief by Nerone & Patuzzi, Italy, circa 1970. A unique work showing an interesting variety of organic and geometric shapes, arranged in a harmonious, continuous composition. At first sight, the large circular shapes positioned at the center and the horizontal lines immediately catch the eye. With continued observation, the other shapes come into view, including typical Nerone details such as the two dots, the triangular forms, and the different relief levels. The wood shows a beautiful, deep, warm color. Nerone used a special technique to bring the wood to life: during the labor process, the surface was polished and darkened through friction, then rubbed with multiple layers of colored wax. This method resulted in a characteristic deep and rich finish, with subtle gradients and variations in tone. The work remains in excellent condition.
