Kinetic table lamp mod. “Caleidoscopio” by Giorgio Longoni for Stilnovo, Italy 1968
Kinetic table lamp model "Caleidoscopio" by Giorgio Longoni for Stilnovo, Italy, 1968. An exquisite sculptural design composed of three cubes—two colorful plexiglass ones and one opal white glass cube—surrounding a central cylindrical stem. The stem serves besides the focal point of the light also as the pivot around which the cubes rotate.
The lamp's name, Caleidoscopio (Italian for “kaleidoscope”), is no coincidence. With its colorful cubes with their reflective surfaces, and central light source, the lamp functions like a real kaleidoscope: by rotating the cubes, ever-changing geometric reflections can be created. The interplay between positive and negative space creates a dynamic sense of tension and balance between the cubes and the space in between. Beyond the optical effect and playful interaction, the cubes act as dynamic light filters. The opal white glass cube in the center diffuses the light beautifully, casting a warm and atmospheric glow. Fitted with an E27 light socket. In excellent original condition.
