Giacomo Benevelli ‘Arabesco’ Sculptural light panel, Italy 1967
'Arabesco' sculptural light panel by Giacomo Benevelli for Gaetano Missaglia, Italy 1967. Benevelli graduated from the Art School of the Academy of Fine Arts in Rome, in 1950 he moved to Milan where he graduated in scenography at the Accademia di Belle Arti di Brera. The panel is a unique concept Benevelli created out of a white lacquered metal panel with a decorative pattern of round perforated shapes in a white lacquered wooden frame. The 'half moons' are cut with a different orientation and folded open randomly, which creates an interesting indirect atmospheric light diffusion. The panel is illuminated by two vertical light tubes at the sides. Both possible as a wall light sculpture or as a table light sculpture leaning agains the wall. In excellent authentic condition.
