Abstract Hexagonal sculpture by Momcilo Milovanovic, France 1970s
Abstract hexagonal sculpture by Momcilo Milovanovic (1921 - 2013), France 1970s. Milovanovic studied sculpting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Belgrade until 1958, his artistic ambition took him to France (Paris). Always searching for interesting geometrical shapes and patterns, both in a rhythmic repetition or in a contrasting combination; similar with the influences we see in the work of great Romanian born sculptor Constantin Brancusi. This sculpture shows an intriguing combination of geometrical shapes stacked together, creating an intriguing contrast with the rounded edges and hollows. The visual effect is reminiscent of the Op-Art movement yet performed in a sculptural way. Unique work, displayed in the book 'Milovanovic, sculpteur'. Work of Momcilo Milovanovic can be found in important collections of art connoisseurs as well as in different public spaces. In excellent condition with a beautiful patina.
