Shutter lamp by Ilse Hofman for Airborne, 1964
Shutter lamp by Ilse Hofman for Airborne, Canada 1964. Very elegant clean and minimal design composed of curved aluminium lamellas which create an interesting indirect light play. The lamellas are finished in a mat off-white lacquer which absorbs and reflect the light in a very subtle and cozy way. The light and shadow proceeded by the central light source provides a rhythmic light partion and play of shadow. Together with the curved lamellas it provides a Kinetic illusion. Ilse Hofman designed a serie of lamps for the Canadian company Airborne focussing on lamellas, they where produced in very small number; Airborne considered itself as an industrial company and they didn't have the focus to promote. The lamp is rewired and is in an excellent condition.
