Abstract Geometric sculpture by Edison Parra (1945-), Venezuela 1970s. Parra had his academical training between 1960 and 1966, first at the Neptalí Rincón Art School in Maracaibo and later at the Cristóbal Rojas Art school in Caracas. In the late sixties he went to Paris just like many artists of his generation, here he ascribes his work to the geometric current. In Paris Parra was picked up by important galeries and had shows at important international Art fairs such as the FIAC. Parra was dedicated to the problem of light refraction and developed geometric structures in wood and other materials. His work is always a plastic research in composition resulting into Geometric - Kinetic sculptures and reliefs with a strong Graphic Architectural presence. This sculpture is a great example of his work and is showing the great and refined talent of Parra. It's very three dimensional and interesting from every angle. Made in textured black lacquered wood. In excellent original condition.
