Michel Seuphor wall Tapestry in Black and white wool
Abstract wall tapestry by Michel Seuphor (1901 -1999) named ‘Spectacle à Bâtons’. Michel Seuphor was a famous Belgium artist who created abstract minimalistic graphic geometric artworks. This tapestry was made in a limited number of 45 pieces. Seuphor moved to Paris in 1925 where he made friends with artists such as Piet Mondriaan, Theo van Doesburg, Hans Arp and others. It’s Mondriaan in particular who made a big impression on Seuphor and who had a huge influence on his style. This particular tapestry stands out from others in size, color scheme and picture and is therefore very sought after. The tapestry is showing an interesting abstract play of lines, minimal in use of colors and image yet very vibrant with an almost kinetic presence. The tapestry can easily be hung over two screws which go into a metal strip inside the upper seam. In excellent original condition.
