Rare sofa by Gérard Gallet (1934-1999) for Mobilier International, France circa 1980. Fantastic outspoken design by the famous French decorator Gérard Gallet who is known for his outspoken interiors for the famous Parisian elite. Gallet graduated from the Boulle school in Paris and started his career at Mobilier International and headed the design office there for several years. In 1964, Gérard Gallet opened his own agency where he served a private clientele, important offices and refined hotels for whom he decorated the spaces and also created the furniture. Gallet was known for his interiors in which he mixed different periods and styles in an unusual yet elegant way. This design is part of the French 'Mobilier National collection'. The sleek diamond shaped lines giving it a modern appearance with an elegant luxurious Art Deco undertone. All is reupholster in a high end mohair from the collection of Pierre Frey®, the lines are carefully reshaped, the original metal springs are tightened again and guaranteed for the future. The sofa provides an excellent comfort. Marked with the original labels. In excellent condition.
