Abstract wall tapestry by Lotti Wenker, Switzerland 1976
Abstract wall tapestry 'Roquebrune' by Lotti Wenker, Switzerland 1976. This work is showcasing great techniques in different materials such as leather patchwork, knittings and yarns in different materials and weavings in a nice contrasting mix of color schemes and textures. The Swiss textile art became a respected form of art since the 1920s with an annual important contest, this resulted in a serious and strong inspiring movement. Textile was used as a medium to make artworks you would normally see in paint; this is clearly visible in this abstract work. The style is significantly different from the textile art in other countries. The work is built up in different layers which results in an interesting composition and relief. The tapestry is signed at the front and backside: Lotti Wenker, Roquebrune - Zürich 1976. In a good original condition.
