René Gabriel Armchairs, France 1940s – set of two

Set of two armchairs in French Oak by René Gabriel (1890 - 1950). Very rare (higher than usual) model with all the typical 'Gabriel' details such as the characteristic sharp angles which come back in every part of the design, the connections and of course the positioning of the back legs. The design is an example of the French reconstruction movement; functional furniture, with simplified lines, without decoration in neutral materials. The cushions are new and upholstered following the original model in a premium quality creme colored 100% linen fabric by Loro Piana ®. The chairs offer great comfort and are in very good condition with a beautiful subtle patina on the solid Oak wooden frames.
