Abstract wooden sculpture by Luigi Nervo, Italy 1970s
Abstract wooden sculpture by Luigi Nervo (Torino 1930 - 2006), Italy 1974. Nervo began his career as an industrial designer and later started experimenting with different art forms, ultimately discovering his love for wood. This unique sculpture is hand-carved out of one piece of solid Iroko wood and is showing beautiful signs of the chisel and outspoken organic forms. The nice warm patinated wood is making a nice contrast with the original dark green marble base. The sculpture is pictured on a famous photo made of Luigi Nervo in his atelier, the sculpture on the photo is exactly this one. The sculpture is signed and dated: Nervo 74. In a very good original condition.
