Macrame Wall Tapestry by Maria Asuncion Raventos, Spain 1970s
Beautiful macrame wall tapestry by Maria Asuncion Raventos, Spain 1970s. Maria Asuncion Raventos studied at the Royal Catalan Academy of Fine Arts of San Jorge in Barcelona. She dedicated herself to creating tapestries, being a prominent member of the Catalan School of Grau-Garriga and Susanna Rolando in San Cugat del Vallés. She experimented with unusual techniques, this work is a great example of her artistic talent and is showcasing great techniques, materials and a stunning mix of earthy tones and textures. The work is composed of different overlapping layers causing an interesting relief and play of volumes, all parts are feeling very heavy and hanging down; the fringes under stripe this feeling. The tapestry is signed at the backside: Maria Asuncion Raventos, Title: Maroc. In very good original condition.
