Marzio Cecchi ‘Balestra’ Lounge chair, Italy 1968

This fully original Marzio Cecchi Balestra lounge chair for Studio Most, Italy 1968, stands as a true and rare icon. The chair retains its original foam and suede, both in very good condition. It is likely the only original of its kind on the market. The unique frame is constructed in two parts: 1. the upper part begins at the top of the chair and runs down to the bottom back of the frame, and 2. the lower part starts at the front of the seat, curves gracefully to the back of the frame, and then angles down to the floor where it connects with the longer section. A small seam, visible at the junction, highlights this detail. The frame also features stamped matching numbers. The design includes a cantilevered seat and spring construction, allowing the Balestra lounge chair to swing slightly, enhancing comfort. It remains in very good original condition and boasts a nice patina on the soft suede.
