Plywood ‘Sella 1001’ Lounge Chairs by Joe Colombo, Italy 1963
Important pair of 'Sella 1001' lounge chairs by Joe Colombo for Comfort, Italy 1963. Innovative design made of two interlocking white-lacquered plywood shells, a chromed metal frame and a double 'C' shaped plywood foot. Fantastic design with beautiful details such as the bent plywood and the nice chrome details. The cowhide upholstery matches perfectly with the off white plywood frames. Surprisingly comfortable. In excellent original condition. Literature: Joe Colombo: Inventing the Future, Kreis and von Vegesack, ppg. 146-147 Joe Colombo and Italian Design of the Sixties, Favata, pg. 38
