Gio Ponti ‘Bilia’ table lamp model no. 2474 for Fontana Arte
Rare early ‘Bilia’ table lamp mod. 2474 by Gio Ponti for Fontana Arte, Italy ca. 1960. Sophisticated design composed two primair shapes; a cone and a sphere. The cone is made of aluminium and is finished with the original matt textured lacquer. The sphere is made fine frosted glass, beautiful satin gloss typical for the glass of Fontana arte of that time. These two elements; the matt structured lacquer and the quality of the glass makes this lamp special and different from the later productions. Although it seems small differences, the impact is enormous. The frosted glass globe spreads the light in a nice soft way providing a nice warm light. The lamp is provided with one E-14 light fitting, max 40 Watt. In excellent original condition with a nice soft patina.
